Fairfax, Ohio January 17, 2014 9:28 am–10:00 am cold, snow, wind 32 °F (unknown windchill; temperature dropped to 28 °F) long-sleeved shirt, leggings, flannel-lined jeans, rain pants, wool socks, snow boots, fleece jacket, fleece scarf, winter coat, fleece-lined wool hat with earflaps, fuzzy gloves sat on a sled snow was light; then heavier; then blowing and dense, obscuring the view entirely for a few minutes; then a little lighter but still heavy and steady had to cover ink bottle with left hand at times to keep it from getting filled with snow snow piled up on drawing, rendering it invisible—swept it off endlessly with gloves that got caked with inky snow—snow soaked through; fingers got cold and hurt snow piled up on me; on timer (brushed off to check remaining time repeatedly); covered backpack, with a pile of snow inside its unzipped pocket
