Fairfax, Ohio September 21, 2014 7:21 pm–8:26 pm cool and very windy, getting darker 65 °F short-sleeve shirt, jeans, socks, shoes, wide-brimmed sun hat (to keep hair out of my face), hair pulled back neighborhood boy came to look at creek shortly after I started; came over to talk briefly (I always enjoy the conversation, though he seems to think he’s bothering me—must have been taught that by an adult), told me he had been looking at a water snake with a bulge partway down (must have eaten recently) wind blew through me, making me cold (tried to steal my paper before I started) crickets got louder and louder voices, laughter from across street in backyard whoosh of cars, flash of headlights rush of strong wind in trees
