Johnson, Vermont     July 9, 2014     2:21 pm–3:38 pm     windy—changing repeatedly between hot sun and dark, threatening clouds     77 °F     short-sleeve shirt, hiking pants, wide-brimmed sun hat, hair pulled back, bare feet on grass     birds twittering     rush and zoom of traffic to my side; low grumble when farther away     two people walked past (separately)—one made brief, meaningless conversation (then turned around and walked back to town)     a few sprinkles of rain     little bugs crawling over me, tickling and pricking     someone practicing the drums     hot and hungry when I finished
