Fairfax, Ohio     April 19, 2014     7:34 pm–8:38 pm     cool, breezy; late, low sun turning to semidarkness     64 °F     long-sleeved shirt, jeans, sweatshirt, socks, shoes     smell of damp grass     dogs barking in concert     whoosh of traffic     birds faint at first, louder as sun went down     many children roaming the neighborhood themselves—a few boys on bikes came over and talked with me for a while; girl, alone, came near but stayed by herself
