Cincinnati, Ohio     August 10, 2014     8:22 am–9:34 am     cloudy and cool with light breeze     72 °F     short-sleeve shirt, hiking pants, sandals, wide-brimmed sun hat, hair pulled back     old lady peered at me through partially opened front door (I greeted her initially); reflection of sky flashed at me as she emerged and retreated repeatedly     neighbor called “g’morning Ruth”     different neighbor came out with dog to “go potty,” then put it in car and left     birds chirping     dry leaf fell from tree onto my drawing     cicadas buzzing     rumble of traffic several blocks away     drone of television inside house (louder or softer depending on state of door)     Ruth came onto porch and down steps as I finished
