Johnson, Vermont     July 22, 2014     9:17 pm–10:29 pm     cool and warm at the same time, dark     72 °F     short-sleeve shirt, hiking pants, sandals, sticky layer of sweat, sunscreen, and bug spray     many groups of young adults walking, talking loudly, sometimes going to a car     voices carrying through the night     young man walking with phone, upset, swearing profusely     bright and blinding headlights     man appeared; passed by; came back; (made me nervous); said he’d never seen anyone drawing at night before; came over to look; heard my project explanation; went away; returned with a question from his family     new pen lost strength by end (went from cold black to warmer with a hint of brown)     big buzzing insect flew straight into my hair (near my face), momentarily trapped
